2011-2012 Doug and Grace Loughlin Scholarship Winner: Carmen Izquierdo

Carmen grew up in South Central Los Angeles as the youngest of 5 siblings of an immigrant family. Her parents did not have the opportunity to attend college. Changing the educational history of her family has been the motivation for her academic success.

As part of the Law Magnet Program in her high school, Carmen became involved in Mock Trial. This experience created a love for the practice of law. She has received four Outstanding Participation Awards from the Constitutional Rights Foundation and a Law Magnet AP Government Excellence Award.

Carmen graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School with a 4.2 GPA and ranked 9th out of 564 students. She is attending Pepperdine University and is pursuing a BA in English (Writing & Rhetoric). She plans to attend law school.
