2011-2012 Doug and Grace Loughlin Scholarship Winner: Ruth Florian

Ruth Florian is from Houston, Texas. She is currently a freshman at Houston Baptist University, majoring in Elementary Education. Ruth has been involved in various leadership and community activities since high school. She has held leadership roles in her church and helped lead community projects. She is a Sunday school teacher and one of the worship leaders at her church.

Currently, Ruth is a member of the Association of Student Educators, Hispanic Student Organization, University Singers, and Sigma Phi Lambda (Sisters for the Lord). Ruth has worked hard to achieve her goals. She cites her parents as being her role models. Teachers also played a vital role in helping her succeed. Ruth has a passion for teaching and her goal is having the opportunity to educate, motivate and inspire young students.
