Empty-Nest Moms Should Know MOFChat.com
The recent launch of the Empty Nest section in this blog has drawn more than two dozen heart-warming and compelling comments from those of you who are parents of children away at college, children whose act of leaving home to study has left a void in your home and in your heart. We continue to encourage you to post your comments in this section of our blog, but we also want you to be aware of a new partner relationship that we have struck with MOFChat.com, an interactive Web site that provides its subscribers with the emotional and logistical resources to help with their children’s journey to and through college. MOFChat.com is a bit different from this blog in that it offers live chats Monday through Thursday evening from 8 - 10 PM Eastern Time, where you can share your experiences, funny moments, panicky moments and coping skills with other mothers who are in your shoes.
Add your comment below if you have thoughts about your experience with MOFChat.com or any chat room on the Internet, so that other visitors here can learn from those experiences.

Hi,
My youngest child is about to graduate from high school and go off to college. My older two daughters have graduated from college and are sharing an apartment in Chicago. They are doing great and I know my youngest daughter is well prepared to excel in college. My kids range in age from 26 to 18. I’ve been a mom for so much of my life that it’s hard to imagine having no kids living at home. I’m also a pediatrician who has a wonderful part-time job.
My kids have all the advantages that anyone can imagine. What I’d like to do now is form a group of moms in my community who are either having their youngest child or their only child graduate from high school. I’d like to have this group become involved in a community volunteer project that would help the many kids in our area (Cleveland) who haven’t had all the advantages our kids have had. Has anyone done this kind of thing? I’d love to have some advice! Thanks, Ellen Graber
