To attend a university where our son could earn a degree and major in History, we looked to Canada. A college in the U.S. where there was a good history program would have been too expensive for us. He did not have any prospects for scholarships, and was not offered any by U.S. colleges, but was given $1000 by Dalhousie University in Halifax, N.S. He is completing his second year there, enjoys it immensely, and the price is just a bit more than attending our state university, where he would not have access to half the courses he has at Dal.
The government in Canada supports its universities. Education there is much more affordable than in the U.S.
