College Parents of America Scholarship Program
The 2012-2013 College Parents of America Scholarship Program:
The 2012-2013 College Parents of America scholarship program is established to reward First Generation College Students and students with exceptional leadership quality.

Program Duration
The scholarship program started to accept applications on October 1st, 2012 12:00 am Pacific Standard Time (PST). Scholarship application period ends on May 1st, 2013 8:00 am PST. Please note, The College Parents of America Scholarship program is directed by the Board of Directors of the non-profit membership organization. Funding of awards depend upon the support of our paid members. As a result, scholarship awards and criteria are subject to change. Membership is not required but encouraged of all families.

Eligibility
Applicants for the First Generation College-Bound Scholarship must be:
- a first-time freshman who is part of the first generation in his/her immediate family* to attend college;
- pursuing his/her degree at an accredited post-secondary institution;
- defined as a full-time student at the college where he/she is enrolled; and
- must be in the top 50% of high school graduating class.
Applicants for the Exceptional Leader Scholarships must be:
- if a first time freshman applicant, an "honor student" as defined by the high school from which he/she graduated; or
- if a college upperclassman, a holder of at least a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale at the institution most recently attended;
- pursuing his/her first undergraduate degree at an accredited post-secondary institution;
- defined as a full-time student at the college where he/she is enrolled; and
- demonstrating outstanding leadership skills inside or outside the classroom.
*Immediate family members include parents, siblings or any person residing in the same household.
Membership Status:
College Parents of America members, affiliate, subscribers or Facebook fans.
Membership is NOT required and does not influence the selection process. However, all parents are encouraged to become involved with College Parents of America either as a paid member, a subscriber or a facebook fan. 2012 - 2013 Awards:
College Parents of America will award ten $500 scholarships to first-generation, rising college freshmen for the 2012/2013 academic year, as well as ten $500 scholarships to exceptional leaders, no matter what their year in school, for this school year. The 2012 - 2013 College Parents of America Scholarships will be awarded throughout the entire academic year.
